This blogging stuff is taking me a while to get used to. It's hard for me to open up. Revealing little things, such as my husband's name is a big step for me. I don't know what the rules on those things are. I was one of those kids who grew up in the "INTERNET PREDATORS CAN STEAL YOUR SOUL" era and it's ingrained...but now, calling him by name is getting to the point of necessity. It's very hard to talk about my baking adventures without mentioning Bern Dogg.
My Bern Dogg is a funny guy. A good combination of all the necessary traits. An ESPN junkie, neat freak, class clown, funnyman...that's my guy! Since this cookie obsession took over my body, he puts up with a lot.
Actually, "a lot" is an understatement.
Maybe I should say *A LOT*
Cereal dinners, being put to work as soon as he gets home from his "real" job, being Mr. Mom, a laundry champion, AND a baker on my busy days (as long as he can see ESPN from the mixer). Keep in mind, this is only a little of what he goes thorough so I can express myself.
SOOOOOOO, I decided he deserved some cookies of his own. And none of those ugly boo-boo cookies I usually feed him, but real life, thoughtful custom Bern Dogg cookies.
This is what I came up with for my LONGHORN loving extraordinaire...
Bern Dogg also has another love...
*THESE guys, ICK!* (Yes, I'm aware this is disloyal)
Neither team did much for him this year, poor Bern Dogg =(
Since I was on an atheletic kick, I went ahead and made some of these guys. You cannot live in Red Raider country and not represent the Red Raiders!
After all, my tiny little town is filled with Alumni, and fans...
Boys...
And girls alike...
Take it easy on this sleepy Sunday! Christmas is almost here!
Yep, BD is a keeper! And I'm pretty partial to those orange and white cookies...HOOK 'EM!
ReplyDeleteBeing an Oklahoman and a die hard Oklahoma Sooners fan, I cannot, with a clear conscience, say anything nice about the UT cookies!! HOWEVER...those Cowboys cookies make my heart skip a beat!! They are simply adorable!! Of course, Dallas was the team that we always cheered for in my house growing up!(I'm so sorry that you haven't come to love the Dallas Cowboys...AMERICA'S TEAM!!! lol!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your adorable cookies!! i heart sweet sugarbelle!!!
They are all great and good on Bern for taking up the slack. Good man.
ReplyDeleteLove Bernie's COOKIES!! Having a good husband makes for a happy life... your children will grow up with his example of support and encouragement... my brothers grew up cheering Dallas Cowboys, so when you come and visit, they'll have a lot to talk about... xoxo
ReplyDeleteMy husband would LOVE the longhorn cookies! Where did you get that cookie cutter???
ReplyDeleteYour Longhorn cookies would not be eaten if my nephew saw them, he would probably think that to be a disrespect to his FAVORITE team...NOW the Cowboys cookies we would eat, because in my house, were Bronco's (even though this year was a travesty)....
ReplyDeleteOn another note, your cookies have inspired me to pull out all the stop this year for my sugar cookies, and I can't wait to see what I come up with! Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh I love this! And Bern Dogg is too funny. No worries. I'll not be coming to stalk your family. But I will giggle at the name. Quite a few times. I am so amazed at the artistry of your cookies. I even called my own hubs downstairs to check them all out. Gorgeous work.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the internet.....and "Bern Dog" is handsome, but you are several states away......!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great guy you have, though! I was feeling kind of sorry for myself b/c my hubby would not bake a cookie for love nor money. But I got to thinking about it and he is a very supportive "financier" and talks so good about my cookies behind my back! He also set me up a "kopykake" style projector (gets images off the computer).........so he is a "keeper"! Although yesterday he did COMPLAIN b/c the number "6" on the phone does not work b/c he says it has icing stuck underneath it!
I think we all are enjoying getting to know you....need to see your "cookie cutter storage" room, though. That says alot about a person!!
You are AMAZING!!! Your cookies are..well, words do not sufficiently describe them. So AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteI am VERY happy to have found your blog..and I'm afraid to tell you..but..I'll be stalking it from now on! LOL!
I grew up in Lubbock, so I really like the Tech cookies! They rock! :)
Aww it's important to have a good husband! My Poppy would love the longhorn cookies and my dad would love the cowboy cookies(: They're such a neat idea!
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome!! Where did you find the cookie cutters? And how did you make the burnt orange icing?
ReplyDeleteWell, now you can just refer to him as BD and we'll all know what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteI met a couple that are both grads of Tech....right here in Vermont!! They live nearby, I'll have to show them your cookies.
All your cookies are amazing, I can't even express how great they are...wish we were closer and we could join forces!!
